Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 300 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 1:15 p.m. last Friday (May 5).
The identity of the male victim, 73, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Prejean and South Central Patrol Division Officers reported: The victim was a backseat passenger in a gray Hyundai Elantra traveling northbound on the freeway at the above address when the female driver failed to control speed and struck a gold Ford Escape. The impact caused the Ford to strike a gray Toyota Corolla. Paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased on Sunday (May 7). No one else was injured in the crash. The driver, 33, of the Hyundai was questioned and released. No charges have been filed in the crash as the investigation is continuing.
