Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man at 1005 Commerce Street about 11:55 p.m. on Tuesday (October 4).
The suspect, Huynh Chi Hung, 57, is charged with murder in the 248th State District Court. A booking photo of Hung is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim, 32, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Persad and Detective L. Gonzales reported:
HPD patrol officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to a stabbing at an embankment at the above address and found the victim with stab wounds to the abdomen. HFD paramedics transported the victim to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
According to several witnesses, the victim was seen talking to Hung. He then walked away holding his abdomen and asked for someone to call 9-1-1.
Hung was detained, admitted to his role in the stabbing and was subsequently charged.
