Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one woman and the wounding of another at 5500 Richmond Avenue about 2:40 a.m. on Saturday (Sept. 24).
The suspect, Christian Isaiah Williams, 24, also sustained a gunshot wound in the incident. He is charged with murder in the 176th State District Court. A booking photo of Williams, who remains hospitalized, is not available for release at this time. One other suspect, described only as a black male, is wanted for questioning in the shooting. The deceased victim is identified as Destinee Govan, 25. The other victim, 20, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Duncan and Detective K. Lovelace reported: Officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found Ms. Govan unresponsive in the driver’s seat of her vehicle. Paramedics pronounced her deceased. A second woman was also found inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital. The officers then located Williams in a parking lot across the street from where the victims were found. Williams had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to the hospital for treatment. It was determined that Govan and her friend were in Govan’s vehicle stopped behind a dark four-door vehicle at the traffic light at Richmond Avenue and Chimney Rock Road when two black males exited the dark vehicle and started shooting at the women. Detectives located evidence at the scene linking Williams as one of the suspects in this incident. He was subsequently charged. Anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the wanted male is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
