Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of an armed suspect at 1800 El Paseo Street about 8:25 a.m. on Friday (Sept. 2).
The male suspect is identified as Harrison Brown, 32.
Officers with the U. S. Marshal’s Office, Harris County Constable Precinct Five and the Texas Department of Public Safety Office of Inspector General all discharged their duty weapons. None of the officers were injured in this incident.
HPD Special Investigations Unit Sergeant R. Flores, and Detectives R. Anderson, J. Turner and I. Ulloa reported:
Members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force attempted to serve a felony warrant at an apartment complex at the above address. When they located suspect Brown, who was wanted out of South Carolina for aggravated robbery, agents with the US Marshals Office performed a vehicle containment technique to prevent the suspect from fleeing in the vehicle. Officers wearing clearly marked tactical gear exited their vehicles and attempted to approach the suspect’s vehicle.
The suspect, who was seated in the driver seat of the vehicle, pressed the accelerator in an effort to flee but was only able to spin the tires. The suspect then displayed a firearm and several officers with the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force discharged their weapons. The suspect was struck more than one time and was pronounced deceased on the scene. No HPD officers discharged their duty weapons in this incident.
No other persons were injured during this incident.
As is customary in officer-involved shooting incidents in the Houston city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
