Houston police have learned a man injured in a crash at 4900 Lockwood Drive about 4:20 p.m. on July 10 has died.
The identity and cause of death of the man, 51, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Prejean and Northeast Patrol Division Officer M. Williams reported:
The male was driving a Kia Optima southbound near the above address when, for unknown reasons, he veered out of the lane and struck the driver’s side of a blue Ford Expedition traveling northbound on Lockwood Drive.
The driver of the Kia was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital where he was treated and released the following day (July 11). The driver of the Expedition was not injured and was questioned and released.
The driver of the Kia was readmitted to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital today (August 8) and was later pronounced deceased. It is believed injuries from the crash may have resulted in the man’s death, however an autopsy will be conducted to determine manner and cause of death.
The investigation is continuing.
