Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 6400 Westheimer Road about 11:05 a.m. on Sunday (Aug. 7).
The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer J. Trevino reported: The victim, a pedestrian, was in a moving lane of traffic at the above address when he was struck by a black Chevrolet Impala traveling eastbound. According to a witness, the suspect driver, described only as a black male, drove away and took a right turn into a nearby apartment complex. Paramedics were called and pronounced the man deceased. Officers located the suspect’s vehicle in the apartment complex at 6263 Westheimer Road. The vehicle is now in HPD custody and is being processed for evidence.
