Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 4545 Cook Road about 8:20 p.m. last Friday (June 24).
The suspect, Andy K. Jaime Olivares, 26, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 182nd State District Court. A booking photo of Jaime Olivares is attached to this news release.
The victim, Jose Alfredo Ponce, 24, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detective J. Rivera reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex parking lot at the above address and found Mr. Ponce suffering from a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to an area hospital.
Officers were advised Jamie Olivares shot Ponce after a verbal altercation escalated into a physical altercation. Jamie Olivares remained at the scene. He was detained, arrested and subsequently charged for his role in the shooting.
