Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 7700 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 4:55 a.m. on Saturday (June 18).
The identity of the deceased male, 33, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rodriguez and Officer J. Gaona reported:
A male pedestrian crossed the northbound lanes at the above address and was struck by a black Mercedes GLE350. The pedestrian was then struck by a red Nissan Pathfinder, also traveling northbound on the freeway. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.
The drivers of both vehicles, who remained at the scene, were determined not to be impaired and were questioned and released.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
