WHAT: House Fire
WHEN: June 3, 2022 at 1:36 p.m.
WHERE: 8200 block of Delwin, 77034
INJURIES: Three deceased pets found.
PROPERTY SAVED: $63,293 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $215,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (candle).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes to find heavy smoke coming from the eaves of a 1-story house. After attempting to enter a converted garage, they made entry into another door and made an offensive attack on the fire. The crews extinguished and contained the fire to the garage that had been converted into a bedroom. Heavy smoke extended into the remainder of the home and attic. Crews also pulled ceiling to ensure the fire had not spread. A primary and secondary search were completed with three deceased pets found and removed from the house. The home was ventilated, and firefighters conducted salvage and overhaul. Crews from Stations 23, 26, 70, 29, 36, 52, 61 and Rescue 42 responded to this incident.
