Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 9801 Meadowglen Lane about 7 a.m. on Tuesday (April 26).
The suspect, Latonya Deshall Malone, 42, is charged with aggravated assault of a family member and felon in possession of a weapon in the 230th State District Court. A booking photo of Malone is attached to this news release.
The victim, Johnny Eason, 31, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives S. Hall and C. Brannen reported:
Officers were dispatched to a shooting call to an apartment at the above address and found Mr. Eason inside an apartment. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. Paramedics transported Eason to a hospital.
Eason’s girlfriend, Malone, initially told officers she was asleep in the bedroom when the shooting occurred. Malone later admitted to her role in the shooting. She was subsequently charged and transported to jail.
