Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 15929 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 4 p.m. on August 31.
The identity of the female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Vanderbull and Officer D. Rodriguez reported:
A silver Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling northbound on the Eastex Freeway when it was possibly struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene. The impact caused the Cavalier to veer off the roadway and strike a retaining wall. The vehicle then flipped several times and all three persons in the vehicle were ejected. The female victim, a passenger, died at the scene. The driver and one other passenger were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
