Houston police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a male wanted for questioning in the fatal shooting of a man at 6566 Homestead Road about 8:10 a.m. on March 20.
Investigators determined the male was in the store a few days prior to the shooting of Jhon Dias, 26. Video of the male, who is not charged in this case, is on the HPD YouTube Channel at https://youtu.be/Ocbvch1-8no
On March 23, HPD released surveillance video of the suspect in Dias’ shooting. The suspect is described only as a black male, 20-25 years-old, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants with white stripes, and black shoes. He had a hoodie over his head and a dark face mask. Surveillance video of the suspect entering the store, pulling out a gun at the register, and fleeing the scene is on the HPD YouTube Channel at https://youtu.be/mSSPK5YajnM
HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Persad and A. Grimes reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at a convenience store at the above address. Upon arrival, they met with Houston Fire Department paramedics and gained entry into the store. Once inside, they found the store clerk in the back office suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics attempted to render aid, however the clerk was pronounced dead at the scene.
While robbery may be a motive in this case, HPD has not definitively determined what led to the shooting.
Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
