Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 15600 South Post Oak road about 9:25 p.m. on Wednesday (March 23).
The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer S. Bouarar reported:
A red Freightliner tractor-trailer truck was making a U-turn under the Sam Houston Parkway West to travel eastbound on the service road. According to the driver, a pedestrian (victim) was walking in the roadway and appeared to be talking to himself. When the driver completed the turn, he felt a small bump and, when he looked in the rearview mirror, he did not see the pedestrian. The driver then stopped the truck and saw the pedestrian had been struck.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. The driver, who remained at the scene and was determined not to be impaired, stated it appeared the pedestrian intentionally stepped in front of the vehicle’s tires.
The investigation is continuing.
