Investigation into Fatal Crash at 20098 Aldine Westfield Road

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 20098 Aldine Westfield Road about 12:15 p.m. last Friday (March 18).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Lopez and Officer L. Ho reported:

A red Freightline tractor-trailer, towing a flatbed trailer, was traveling northbound on Aldine Westfield Road.  As the truck driver, with a green light, was turning left to travel westbound on East Richey Road, the trailer was struck by a red Chevrolet Cruz, whose driver ran a red light.

The front passenger of the Chevrolet was transported to Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.  The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.  The rear passenger of the Chevrolet was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the Freightliner was not injured.

There are no charges at this time, pending further investigation.
