House Fire in The Fort Bend Houston Area

WHAT: House Fire

WHEN: March 9, 2022 at 12:52 p.m.

WHERE: 7100 block of Bahia, 77489

INJURIES: 2 civilians transported to the hospital for burns.

PROPERTY SAVED: $210 thousand in estimated property saved.

DAMAGE: $65 thousand in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Unintentional (space heater / surge protector)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find fire in the front room of a 1-story home with two residents outside. The two residents were treated for burns and transported to the hospital by HFD EMS. Crews made an offensive attack and ventilated the roof. Primary and secondary searches were completed with no one found and the fire was extinguished at about 1:15 p.m. Firefighters conducted salvage and overhaul and HFD Arson investigators determined the cause was due to a space heater being plugged into a surge protector that overheated and caught fire. Crews from Stations 59, 48, 80, 21 and 82 responded to this incident.
