CAUSE: Failure of equipment or heat source.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes to find smoke coming from an apartment. A smoldering fire was found in the kitchen. Crews opened the ceiling to check for extension. No fire extension was found, and the fire was tapped out within ten minutes. Firefighters conducted salvage and overhaul and used fans to ventilate the smoke from the apartment and a neighboring unit. Crews from Stations 28, 68, 10, 51, 60 and 57 responded to this incident.
