WHAT: House Fire

WHERE: 5300 block of Newkirk, 77021
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $179 thousand in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $80 thousand in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Unintentional (stove left on)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find light smoke coming from a 1-story house. They forced entry and extinguished a small kitchen fire with extension into the cabinets above the stove. A primary search was completed with no one found. There was no extension to the attic, however the home suffered from extensive smoke damage. The American Red Cross was contact to assist the residents. Crews from Stations 26, 46, 18, 35, 40 and 24 responded to this incident.
