WHAT:	Townhome Fire
WHEN:	January 23, 2022 at 12:52 p.m.
WHERE:	5000 block of Fairmont, 77005
INJURIES:	No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED:	Not available.
DAMAGE:	$16 thousand in estimated damage.
CAUSE:	Failure of equipment or heat source.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:	Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find smoke coming from the garage of a 2-story townhome. The owner informed the crews there was a fire in the kitchen and no one else was home. Upon entering the home, crews found heavy smoke and a fire coming from the dishwasher, extending to the wall and cabinets. They quickly extinguished the fire and checked for extension in the walls. The neighboring townhome was also checked for extension. Crews ventilated the smoke and removed the debris to the front yard. It appeared that the fire originated from the dishwasher or wiring to the dishwasher. Firefighters from Stations 21, 28, 33, 37, 51 and 3 responded to this incident.
