Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man found at 5663 Belmark Street about 12:25 a.m. on December 26.
The identity of the victim, 33, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Ferrell and J. Campbell reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found the victim lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds to the lower torso. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
A witness stated a suspect, driving a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee, was traveling eastbound on Belmark and stopped to speak to the victim, who was on foot. A verbal altercation ensued and the suspect pulled out a firearm and shot the victim multiple times from inside the vehicle. The suspect then fled the scene.
