Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 3100 West Little York Road

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 3100 West Little York Road that occurred about 2:15 a.m. on Monday (November 29).

The suspect, Ronald Ariel Sariles (H/m, 24), is charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault in the 174th State District Court. A booking photo of Sariles is attached to this news release.

The identity of the male victim, 38, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer K. Hines reported:

A white Toyota Tundra pickup truck, driven by Sariles, was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound near the above address and seen slightly swerving. The victim was riding a bicycle, with a working red flashing light mounted on the rear, in the far right lane on West Little York by the curb. Sariles failed to control the truck’s speed and struck the bicycle. The pickup then left the roadway, struck a power pole and a brick wall to a nearby housing community. The truck rolled onto its side and the passenger was ejected.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The male passenger, 19, in the pickup truck was transported to an area hospital with a laceration to his face and a broken ankle. Sariles was detained at the scene, determined to be impaired and subsequently charged for his role in the crash.
