Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 11900 Katy Freeway

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 11900 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about 3 a.m. on Sunday (Oct. 24).

The suspect, Stanley Lewis II (b/m. 28), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 228th State District Court.  A booking photo of Lewis is attached to this news release.

The identity of the female victim, 29, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer J. Bibb reported:

The victim was driving a white Toyota Camry eastbound on the freeway at the above address and pulled over onto the shoulder of the freeway after one of her passengers began to get sick.  The driver exited her car to help her passenger.  At that time, the driver (Lewis) of a white Hyundai Ascent, also traveling eastbound, failed to stay in a single lane, exited the main lanes at highway speeds and struck the Toyota and the victim.  Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Lewis showed signs of intoxication.  He was treated at a hospital for minor injuries and then subsequently charged and booked into jail.  One of the persons in the Toyota was also taken to a hospital in stable condition.
