The fatal shooting of a man and the wounding of a woman at 3000 Greenridge Drive that occurred about 8 p.m. on Monday (October 4) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The deceased male is identified as Christian Castillo, 31. The female victim, Malissa Maquilon, 45, was transported to an area hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives R. Naughton, L. Palma and A. Henderson reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in a parking lot at the above address and found Mr. Castillo deceased and Ms. Maquilon with a gunshot wound to the arm. Officers detained a male suspect at the scene.
A preliminary investigation determined Castillo, who is Maquilon’s ex-boyfriend, and the suspect got into an argument that resulted in Castillo assaulting the suspect. The suspect, who is a relative of Maquilon’s, then shot and killed Castillo. As Maquilon attempted to intervene in the assault, she was struck by the gunfire.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and the case will be presented to a grand jury.
At this time, the department does not believe there is a continuous threat to the general public.
