The fatal shooting of a man at 9334 Richmond Avenue about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday (Oct. 3) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity of the deceased male, 43, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives L. Kauffman and C. Bowling reported:
Officers were dispatched to a shooting outside a nightclub at the above address and located a deceased male in the parking lot. The shooter, a security guard, remained on the scene and was interviewed by investigators.
Evidence and witness statements indicated the male was repeatedly pointing a pistol at people in the crowded parking lot during an altercation. After the male twice pointed the pistol at the security guard and refused repeated pleas to stop, the security guard shot the male.
After consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined the case would be referred to a grand jury.
At this time, the department does not believe there is a continuous threat to the general public.
