Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting at 10241 Azalea Village

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 10241 Azalea Village about 1:25 p.m. on Thursday (June 24).

The suspect, Raymond Gilder (b/m, 44), is charged with aggravated assault of a family member and felon in possession of a weapon in the 230th State District Court.  He is accused in the shooting of his father-in-law, Charles Payne, 61, who was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer G. Sanchez reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found a male, Mr. Payne, with multiple gunshot wounds.  Houston Fire Department paramedics transported Payne to the hospital.  While at the hospital, Payne told officers he had been shot by his son-in-law.  As officers were still on scene, Gilder returned to the location.  Officers took him into custody and recovered a  pistol.  Gilder was transported to an area hospital for a medical episode.  He was treated and released.

Gilder was then booked into the Joint Processing Center without further incident and subsequently charged for his role in the shooting.
