The fatal shooting of a man at 4714 Paradise Lane about 5:30 a.m. on Monday (May 31) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The deceased male is identified as Charles Wilson, 74.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Grimes and K. Persad reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a report of a burglary of a residence at the above address. Upon arrival, they found Wilson lying in the driveway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The resident (shooter) was located inside the house.
According to the resident, he was sleeping in the front room of the house when he heard a male (Wilson) talking outside his window. The resident stated Wilson was rambling, speaking words that made no sense, and appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance.
Wilson then began hitting the glass window with his arms, shattering the glass. The resident stated he feared for his safety and believed Wilson was going to forcibly enter his residence to harm him. The resident then grabbed his firearm and discharged it several times, striking Wilson. The resident then called 9-1-1 to report the incident and waited inside his home for police to arrive.
HPD investigators contact the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and presented the facts collected at the scene. After reviewing the facts, investigators were advised the case would be submitted to a grand jury for review.
