Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a female found following a fire at 5418 Bunte Street about 1:30 a.m. today (April 21).
The identity and cause of death of the female is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Simmons and Detective T. Andrade reported:
Houston Fire Department (HFD) firefighters were dispatched to a small brush fire at the above address and, upon arrival, found a small trailer engulfed in flames. After extinguishing the fire, firefighters discovered the victim’s body. An investigation by HFD arson investigators will determine the cause of the fire.
Investigators were told the victim had recently been hanging out at a nearby store in the 4700 block of Lockwood Drive in northeast Houston. She is described as a black female, approximately 6 feet tall, 170 pounds with a piercing in her chin. She was known to wear a red baseball cap.
