Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 1302 Eastex Freeway

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 1302 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) service road about 5:05 p.m. on Tuesday (April 20).

The victim, Felton Dorsey, 28, was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Smith and Officer M. Estep reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to an alarm call at the convenience store at the above address.  Upon arrival, they learned Mr. Dorsey had been shot and transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics.

Further investigation determined Mr. Dorsey was sitting in his vehicle when a black male and a second unknown male exited a silver Toyota Camry and approached him.  The two males then shot Dorsey, who got out of his vehicle and attempted to flee.  Both male suspects chased Dorsey through a parking lot, continuing to shoot at him.  Members of a crowd produced their own firearms and began shooting at the suspects.  Both suspects returned to the silver Toyota and fled the scene.
