Houston police are investigating the shooting of a woman at 1200 Grove Street about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday (April 3).
The victim, Dositheia Ross, 51, was transported to an area hospital in an unknown condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives G. Black and A. Hernandez reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and learned Ms. Ross was shot in the lower back as she was walking near the above address. Ross told officers other peoples had been fighting in the street. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported Ross to the hospital.
Further investigation determined a second woman, 29, was fighting with another female when a known male suspect grabbed her by her hair and threw her to the ground. The suspect began to shoot as the female ran behind some vehicles for cover. She sustained minor scrapes and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
