Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 9975 Westheimer Road about 1 a.m. on Sunday (January 17).
The suspect, Dechaun Tyrell McBride (b/m, 25) is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felony evading in a motor vehicle in the 262nd State District Court. A booking photo of McBride is attached to this news release.
The victim, Michael Cockrun , 28, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives L. Kaufmann and C. Bowling reported:
Mr. Cockrun and McBride got into an argument over a female which led to McBride brandishing a rifle at Cockrun and both men subsequently exchanging gunfire. McBride then led responding HPD officers on a vehicle pursuit and he was taken into custody without further incident.
Houston Fire Department paramedics transported both men to area hospitals.
