Houston police are investigating the drowning death of a man that occurred near 8900 Braeswood Boulevard about 11 p.m. on Thursday (October 8).
The identity of the victim, 60, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detective M. Arrington reported:
According to a witness, the victim, wearing a large, heavy backpack, lost his footing as he attempted to walk under a bridge and fell into Braes Bayou. The witness attempted to help the victim, however was unable to reach him. The witness then ran to a nearby store and had someone call 9-1-1. HPD officers and Houston Fire Department personnel responded to the scene where the victim was retrieved from the bayou and pronounced deceased.
