The fatal shooting of a robbery suspect at 10121 Windmill Lake Boulevard about 10 p.m. on Thursday (September 10) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity of the male suspect is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The male shooter, 21, suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Daignault and Detective R. Moss reported:
The victim had parked his vehicle when the suspect approached him and, at gunpoint, demanded his keys. At gunpoint, the suspect allowed the victim to remove property from the vehicle. The victim was able to retrieve his handgun and, fearing for his life, turned toward the suspect with the gun. Both men exchanged gunfire and were struck at least once.
The victim was able to run away and call 9-1-1. Paramedics responded to the scene and transported him to the hospital. Officers found the suspect deceased a short distance from the robbery scene where he was pronounced deceased.
