Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 10400 Southwest Freeway (South U. S. Highway 59) service road at about 10:10 p.m. on Wednesday (May 24).
The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia and Officer M. Rios reported:
A pickup truck, with a gooseneck trailer loaded with a vehicle, was stopped in a lane of the Southwest Freeway service road while delivering the vehicle to a car dealership. As the victim was on the back of the trailer attempting to unload the vehicle, a silver Dodge Caravan traveling on the Southwest Freeway service road struck the rear of the trailer, went up onto the ramp and struck the victim, who died at the scene.
The driver of the Caravan, who remained at the scene, was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
