Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 7600 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 4:10 a.m. on Sunday (October 27).
The identity of the female victim, 20, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Maness and Officer H. Nguyen reported:
The female driver of a white Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on freeway at the above address when she stopped her vehicle. The victim, driving a red Chrysler 200, stopped to avoid striking the Toyota. Both drivers then exited their vehicles and stood between them.
The male driver of a maroon Ford Fusion, also traveling northbound, failed to control his speed and struck the victim, causing her to be pinned between the vehicles. The other female managed to get out of the way prior to the crash. Paramedics transported the victim to HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest where she was pronounced deceased. The second female was not inured.
The male driver of the Ford remained at the scene. He was questioned and released , pending results of a mandatory blood draw.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
