HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Chebret and Officer D. Stark reported:
Four armed male suspects wearing ski masks broke into the home at the above address and tied up the people inside. The suspects then assaulted the homeowner by repeatedly hitting him in the head with their pistols.
A neighbor heard the noise and came to help. The neighbor observed two of the suspects beating another man in the back yard. Fearing for the man’s safety, the neighbor fired his weapon, striking one of the suspects. He then ran to the front of the house where he saw the remaining three suspects jumping the fence. One of the suspects turned toward the neighbor, holding a pistol in his hand. Fearing for his life, the neighbor fired his weapon at the suspect. This suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The other suspect was transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg. Several of the persons inside the home were also taken to area hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Two suspects were able to flee the scene.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the two suspects or with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
