Houston police have learned the identity of a victim in a fatal crash at 5000 West Bellfort about 6 p.m. last Thursday (May 4).
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences identified the victim as Gordon Richard Speer, 74, of Houston.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer C. Tosso reported:
Mr. Speer was walking southbound on Runnymeade and crossing at West Bellfort in a crosswalk, but against the “do not walk” signal. A male driving a silver Pontiac G6 was traveling on West Bellfort with a green light when the vehicle struck the pedestrian.
Mr. Speer, who was at-fault, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was questioned and released without charges.
Last Friday (May 5), Mr. Speer was reported missing by his roommate and a missing persons flyer was generated. On Sunday (May 7), the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences notified HPD investigators the deceased pedestrian was positively identified as Mr. Speer.
