Houston police are investigating the stabbing of a man at 7222 Bellerive Street about 8:15 p.m. on Saturday (August 24).
The victim, Omar Contreras, 30, was transported to an area hospital in an unknown condition.
HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officers A. Hernandez and J. Roberts reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a cutting call at the above address and found Mr. Contreras lying on the ground in the courtyard. He had been stabbed in the neck and abdomen. Paramedics transported him to the hospital.
Further investigation determined Contreras attempted to break up a fight between the suspect and the suspect’s father in the courtyard. After he broke up the initial fight, Contreras was tending to the suspect’s father when the suspect returned from his apartment armed with a knife. Contreras tried to flee on foot, but tripped and fell. The suspect then jumped on top of Contreras and stabbed him. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.
