Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 6800 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 1 a.m. on Sunday (August 11).
The identities of the three male victims are pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Benavidez and Officer R. Romo reported:
The driver of a brown Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck was at the stop sign at the intersection of Bellerive and the Southwest Freeway service road. He stated no vehicles were approaching southbound so he turned south onto the service road. As he entered the lanes of the service road, the pickup truck was struck by a brown Chevrolet Tahoe traveling southbound on the service road at a high rate of speed.
Two of the three persons in the Tahoe were ejected. One was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second victim was pronounced deceased en route to the hospital and the third victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The driver of the Chevrolet truck remained at the scene and was found not to be intoxicated.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
