A man critically injured in a crash at 11900 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 1:25 p.m. on May 24 has died.
The identity of the victim, 65, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Ogden and Northbelt Division officers reported:
The victim was driving a maroon Ford Explorer northbound on the North Freeway when his truck struck a curb and then drove over several mounds of grass, causing the man to bounce around in the truck. He sustained some swelling and a large knot on his head and was taken to Houston Northwest Medical Center. He was eventually released from the hospital.
On June 18 and June 19, paramedics were called to the man’s home on reports of bleeding due to his injury and took him to the same hospital on consecutive days. He was treated and released from the hospital on both occasions.
On June 26, the man drove himself to the same hospital where he was admitted for an infected head wound and septic. He became unresponsive on June 27 and was pronounced deceased last Friday (July 5).
The investigation is continuing and autopsy results are pending.
