Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash that occurred at 1300 West 34th Street about 12:10 a.m. on Sunday (June 30).
The suspect, Bayron Cruz (H/m, 31), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 262nd State District Court. A booking photo of Cruz, with injuries sustained in the crash, is attached to this news release.
The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Uribe and Officer V. Garcia reported:
The victim was driving a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck southbound on Golf Road and leaving a stop sign at the intersection of West 34th Street. The Toyota was struck by a black Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by Cruz, traveling westbound on 34th Street.
The driver of the Toyota was transported to Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Cruz was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was determined to be impaired and subsequently charged for his role in the crash.
