| Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal auto-pedestrian crash at 12200 Almeda Road about 10:40 p.m. last Friday (May 24).
The suspect, Arthur Lee Bell (b/m, 62), is charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #13. A booking photo of suspect Bell is attached to this news release.
The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer F. Flynn reported:
Mr. Bell was driving a silver Ford Edge northbound on Almeda Road just past the intersection of Almeda Plaza when the victim stepped in front of his vehicle. Bell did not see the victim and struck him. Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased.
Further investigation determined Bell was impaired and he was detained at the scene and charged.
