WHAT: 3-alarm hotel fire.
WHEN: July 18, 2023, at 3:24 p.m.
WHERE: 2900 W. Sam Houston Parkway S. 77042.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.

CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find smoke coming from the roof of a 3-story hotel and began an attack on the fire. A second alarm was requested, and a primary search was conducted. The utilities were secured, and a defensive attack was initiated after the roof began to sag. All crews were evacuated out of the building and firefighters used aerial operations to control the fire from the exterior. A Metro Bus was requested for cooling and CenterPoint arrived on scene to shut the power off to the building. The American Red Cross was notified for personnel who resided in the hotel. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. A building inspector was also requested due to the apparent dangerous conditions as a result of the incident. 124 personnel were dispatched to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 90, 69, 82, 2, 15, 5, 6, 28, 68, 78, 83, 10, 51,57, 60, 73, 75,76, 77, 11, 8, 37, 24, 33, Heavy Rescue 11, Rehab 8 and the Village Fire Department.
