WHAT: 3-alarm apartment fire.
WHEN: January 17, 2024, at 7:44 p.m.
WHERE: 6419 Skyline Dr. 77057.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: $6,960,000 in estimated property saved.
DAMAGE: $1,500,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy fire coming through the roof of an apartment building. They made an offensive attack and conducted a primary search. The fire was upgraded to a second alarm, and once the occupants were all accounted for, crews switched to a defensive attack. A third alarm was requested for additional manpower. The utilities were controlled, and the fire was extinguished, with firefighters ensuring all hot spots were out. The American Red Cross was notified for the residents and a Firewatch was established. Public Works was requested due to the condition of the building and portions needing to be torn down. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. 101 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 2, 15, 5, 6, 21, 28, 68, 83, 3, 10, 38, 51, 60, 69, 82, 16, 8, 57, 33, Rescue 10, Rehab 17 and The Village Fire Department.
