WHAT: 3-alarm apartment fire.
WHEN: May 14, 2025, at 5:52 a.m.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (unattended bar-b-que pit).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire coming from an apartment building and declared a defensive attack due to the involvement and spread. The fire spread throughout the second floor, third floor and the roof. A second alarm was requested and a portion of the wall collapsed. Crews assisted with the evacuations with additional collapses. Rehab was established and the fire was upgraded to a third-alarm due to the conditions and weather. The fire was controlled at about 7 a.m. and the American Red Cross was notified to assist the residents. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. 107 personnel responded to this incident, including firefighters from Stations 76, 69, 2, 15, 28, 68, 78, 83, 10, 51, 57, 60, 66, 73, 75, 86, 8, 37, 24, 33, Heavy Rescue 11, Rescue 10 and Rehab 42.
