A suspect charged and wanted in the fatal shooting of a woman found at 3702 Southmore Boulevard about 3:40 p.m. on June 27 is now in custody.

An updated booking photo of Willis is attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Officers L. Patterson and Officer R. Waterwall reported:
Officers were dispatched to a welfare check call at an apartment at the above address. A family member became concerned for a couple in the apartment after hearing there was a possible disturbance at the apartment.
When officers arrived, they did not get a response. Fearing a medical emergency, officers obtained a key from the apartment property manager to do a welfare check on the couple. Upon entry, officers found a female victim, later identified as Ms. Williams, unresponsive on the floor. She had been shot. Paramedics were called and pronounced Williams deceased. The male who lives in the apartment with her was not located.
Further investigation identified Willis as the suspect in this case and, on June 28, a warrant was issued for his arrest. Willis turned himself in to authorities at the Harris County Jail on Saturday (July 4) without incident.
