2-Alarm Warehouse Fire in The Greater Hobby Area

WHAT: 2-Alarm Warehouse Fire.

WHEN: August 4, 2022 at 10:22 p.m.

WHERE: 8419 Hansen Rd. 77075.

INJURIES: One firefighter transported to the hospital.

PROPERTY SAVED: $350,000 in estimated property saved.

DAMAGE: $150,000 in estimated damage.

CAUSE: Incendiary.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters were dispatched to an automatic alarm and arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from a large warehouse type facility. They requested additional units and made an attack on the fire. A primary search was conducted with no one found. The building was ventilated and as crews were making progress, a mayday was called for a firefighter falling about 15 feet through a hole. A second alarm was requested and the firefighter was able to walk to waiting EMS crews who treated and transported him to the hospital.

The fire was controlled and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. They determined that it was caused by an unknown suspect(s) igniting a fire inside a warehouse and was classified as "Incendiary". Firefighters from Stations 36, 29, 26, 70 and 61 responded to this incident.
