2-Alarm Apartment Fire in The Sharpstown Area

WHAT:  2-alarm apartment fire.
WHEN: February 27, 2024, at 6:58 a.m.
WHERE: 6600 Dunlap St. 77074.
INJURIES: Three firefighters were injured. One resident was treated on scene.
PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.
DAMAGE: $250,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Under investigation (appears to be accidental).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find smoke and fire coming from the second and third floor of a 3-story apartment building. Fire conditions were found in four units with smoke throughout eight additional units. Crews made an attack on the fire and conducted a primary search. The Houston Police Department was requested for traffic control. A second alarm was requested for additional manpower and HFD units. Rehab was established for firefighters to rotate through. The building was ventilated, and the fire was extinguished. HFD EMS treated one resident on scene. One firefighter was also evaluated on scene. Two firefighters were transported to the hospital for minor burns. FHD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin of the fire. 93 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 28, 37, 82, 68, 2, 21, 59, 83, 3, 10, 48, 51, 60, 73, 76, 11, 33,69, 8, 15, 24, 57, Rehab 8 and The Village Fire Department.
