WHAT: 2-alarm apartment fire.

CAUSE: HFD Arson investigators ruled the cause as accidental (fireplace).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find smoke coming from a 2-story apartment building and requested a second alarm. They made an attack on the fire and controlled the utilities. A primary search was completed, and the roof was ventilated. The Houston Police Department was requested for traffic control and firefighters extinguished the fire. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 79 personnel responded to this incident, including crews from Stations 51, 69, 2, 28, 68, 83, 5, 10, 37, 38, 49, 60, 3, 57, 33, Rescue 10, Rehab 17 and The Village Fire Department.
