WHAT: 2-alarm apartment fire.
WHEN: June 21, 2023, at 9:41 p.m.
WHERE: 13503 Northborough Dr. 77067.
INJURIES: One civilian treated on scene, one firefighter injured knee.

DAMAGE: $$236,000 in estimated damage.
CAUSE: Arson investigators ruled the cause as nature, most likely do to a lightning strike.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find fire coming from the first and second floors of a 2-story apartment building and requested a second alarm. A primary search was completed, and crews initiated an attack on the fire. Crews switched to a defensive attack and all firefighters were removed from the hot zone, as a nearby building was evacuated after starting to catch fire as well. One resident was treated on scene for breathing problems and a firefighter was treated for an injured knee. The fire was controlled and HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. 83 personnel responding to this incident, including crews from Stations 58, 30, 15, 5, 31, 34, 64, 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, 17, 84, 96, 105, 67, 49, 74, 8, Heavy Rescue 11 and Rehab 8.
