WHAT: 2-Alarm Apartment Fire.
WHEN: July 25, 2022 at 6:20 p.m.
WHERE: 13011 Northborough Dr., 77067.
INJURIES: No reported injuries.
PROPERTY SAVED: Not available.
DAMAGE: $1,500,000 in estimated damage (24 units were damaged).
CAUSE: Under investigation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the eaves and third floor roof of a 3-story apartment building. They made an offensive attack and conducted a primary search; however, the fire began to spread through the common attic and crews initiated a defensive attack. The fire was upgraded to a second alarm and a collapse occurred on the second floor. Once the fire was controlled, firefighters switched back to an offensive attack and finished extinguishment. Embers spread to a nearby apartment building which suffered from significant roof, attic, and damage to the top floor. Approximately 24 units were damaged, and the American Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the occupants. The apartment building management was also on scene to assist. HFD Arson investigators were requested to determine the cause and origin. Crews from Stations 15, 4, 31, 34, 64, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 56, 58, 62, 66, 67, 74, 84, 96, 11, 8, 30, Heavy Rescue 11, Rehab 17 and The Aldine Fire Department responded to this incident.
