2-Alarm Apartment Fire in The Central Northwest Area

WHAT: 2-Alarm Apartment Fire.

WHEN: August 17, 2022 at 1:37 a.m.

WHERE: 3233 Mangum Rd. 77092.

INJURIES: One firefighter suffered from possible dehydration and was transported to the hospital.

PROPERTY SAVED: $2,160,000 in estimated property saved.

DAMAGE: $200,000 in estimated damage, 5 units damaged.

CAUSE: Accidental (an unspecified electrical issue inside a wall space).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes to find a fire and smoke coming from the roof of an apartment building. They made an attack and ventilated the roof. A second alarm was requested and a crews conducted a primary search as the fire was controlled. A vehicle blocking a fire hydrant was towed by HPD. One firefighter was transported to the hospital for possible dehydration. The fire was tapped out at 3:10 a.m. and the American Red Cross was requested to assist the residents. Five apartment units were damaged. Crews from Stations 15, 4, 5, 6, 11, 13, 31, 50, 62, 67, 11, 77, 30, 57, and Heavy Rescue 11 responded to this incident.
